I turn 30 this july.
It's making me feel old.
This is the age that when you are a kid you think, by the time Im 30 I'm really going to have it together. Well now that I'm almost there I think the idea that I might have it all together by 30 is pretty hilarious. But nevertheless, there are things that I would like to do that I can do this year. My themes for my goals are Health, Spirituality, Adventure, Books to read, Just for fun and life goals. I've checked off a few of them already! yay! But most are still sitting in the "TO DO" pile.
The ones in bold are either completed or I'm making very good progress.
1. I did the triathlon. It was hard, but so much fun and I can't wait to do it again next year...well maybe I can wait.
2. Sort through all the junk I have in storage! DONE! We had a little garage sale and sold some stuff on craigslist and the rest went to the goodwill.
3. Become a bike rider...in progress, I went for a ride this morning and two miles from home I blew my tire out...with all my repair and replacement stuff at home. So today I was a walker...with a bike.
4. Lose 30 pounds...as of today I've lost....about 3 pounds...27 more to go!
5. Workout 5 days a week....I think I average about 4 days a week, but now that Claire is in preschool I have free mornings to work out. It is so much easier to workout when the kids are in school. I am loving it!
6. Read the Book of Mormon- I'm terrible at reading my scriptures...I'm going to need the whole year for this one.
7. Read the teachings of Buddha, We can all use some spiritual enlightenment right?
8. Keep a weekly blessings record. I have always meant to do this and have never done it.
9. Read some scripture every morning. The best times of my spiritual in tuneness have been when I have read scripture in the morning. It's just a great way to start the day and makes me feel good.
10. Recommit to prayer. Ok I pray, but I don't always take the time that I should to really sincerely pray, so yeah...I'm going to do that this year.
11. Go someplace new with Peter. Peter and I have never been on vacation alone...even our Honeymoon was to a family reunion. So this year we are leaving the kids with someone....any volunteers? and going to Hawaii to celebrate his graduation from Evergreen.
12. Go Kayaking in the puget sound. I love Kayaking. I don't get to do it very often and I've never done it in the puget sound.
13. Go Whale watching in the San jauns. I have never done this and I really want to.
14. See the Luchadores at Portland's Cinco de Mayo festival. Ok this one is really just for fun. I found it while dinking around on the internet looking for fun stuff to do. Luchadores are mexican wrestlers.
15.-19 I have 5 books to read. I already have my own list so don't feel the need to suggest any. I figure with school there isn't going to much time for fun reading so I think 5 books is a good goal for the year.
20. Sew a piece of clothing for myself. Ok I've done this one but the skirt was totally unwearable, so this time it has to be something I can wear out in public and doesn't fall apart in the wash.
21. Be in the Procession of the species....what should I be?
22. Go to Wild Waves. I have seriously never been. not joking, I know...I'm lame.
23. See the Nutcracker. I've actually done this several times, but I want to do it again and if I don't write it down it will never happen.
24. Ride my bike along the Long Beach trail. Long beach has a great bike trail and I go camping there often and now that I am a really cool bike rider I can ride my bike there :)
25. Go to school to become a paralegal- My tuition is paid and I start next monday!!! I am so excited....on a side note, if anyone wants to buy my 650$ worth of text books I have no shame in accepting charity :) Just kidding...well sort of.
26. Make a will and choose Guardians for my children. Since my kids are 5 and 3 I might have thought of doing this a few years ago.
27. Sell a photograph. I love to take pictures, and I've always wondered if anyone would actually pay me for one so I'm going to try and sell one. Who knows maybe I will make enough to pay for my textbooks.
28. Do all the detail cleaning and repair work on our apartment....this is really just more of a regular to do list, but I figured as long as I'm making a list of things I have to do THIS YEAR, I might as well do some cleaning.
29. Grow a Vegetable. I have killed almost every plant I have owned in my entire life. The only one left is a succulent my Grandma gave me a few months ago, and I'm not sure that counts because it's basically the easiest plant to keep alive ever...practically a cactus.
30. Actually do my meditation. I've been meditating since I took up yoga at 17. I love it, but much like exercise, plant care, and scripture reading I just don't make time for it. So this year I want to reestablish my habit of meditating.
ok well there it is. If you want to do any of these things with me...except Hawaii. No one is invited to Hawaii. Let me know. Should be a fun year!

I love you! Move to wilderness!!
Your Buddha and meditation comments made me wonder if you've ever read about mindfulness? Thich Nhat Hanh has written some really interesting books about it. I've only read one book (Peace Is Every Step) but I really liked it. Anyway, just wanted to recommend that.
I like your list! We'll watch your kids while you go to Hawaii. Just drive them out here! You guys definitely deserve a trip.
